In this chapter we learned about cohesion and adhesion, a basic part of chemistry. Cohesion is two or more molecules of the same substance that stick together. Adhesion is molecules of different substances that are attracted to each other. The water droplets are staying in balls because of cohesion. All the water molecules are sticking together forming the balls. Adhesion is why the water droplets are staying on the leaf and not rolling off, the water molecules and the molecules of the leaf are attracted to each other. This photo is a good example of cohesion and adhesion because it shows the water droplet forming the ball (cohesion) and the water droplet sticking to the leaf (adhesion).

This video will teach you about the four macromolecules. You will learn the polymer name, the functions, and some examples.
This website will describe how to draw an atom using the atomic number and atomic mass.

This image shows how a reaction uses an enzyme. First the substrate goes in the active site on the enzyme. Then while the substrate is on the active site a chemical reaction occurs that separates the substrate into products. The products go off into the body while the enzyme is reused.

Unit Summary
This unit we learned about many different things. We learned about properties of water, how to draw atoms, and how enzymes work. Water is made up of 1 oxygen atom and 2 hydrogen atom. Covalent bonds form between the oxygen and hydrogen atoms to create water. Water is a polar molecule because it has a slight negative and slight positive charge. Next molecules are made up of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons have a positive charge and are found in the nucleus of the atom. Neutrons have no charge and are also found in the nucleus. Electrons have a negative charge and are found on the outer shell of the atom. Protons and neutrons are an elements atomic number. Neutrons are an elements atomic mass subtracted by the atomic number. Lastly, we learned how enzymes work. First the substrate has a bond that needs to be broken. The substrate fits perfectly in the enzyme and the active site. Then the enzyme helps lower activation energy and break the bond between the substrate (If our bodies didn't have enzymes we would over heat and die). Lastly the substrate comes out as a product with the bond broken and the enzyme is reused.
I enjoyed learning about cohesion and adhesion. We did a lab where we put water droplets on our finger nails and we got to see how cohesion and adhesion works. I furthered my knowledge of water by seeing how water stays on surfaces and why is beads up. I would like to learn more about the enzymes because enzymes do amazing things. They help us stay at a living temperature while the body works. I would would like to go more into detail about enzymes.
